Staple Cotton Cooperative Association “Staplcotn”, headquartered in Greenwood, MS is the oldest and one of the largest cotton marketing cooperatives in the United States. Each year Staplcotn markets between 2.5 million to 3.0 million bales of superb Memphis/Eastern upland cotton to textile customers around the world.
Staplcotn is very active in the world cotton trade. In the U.S. textile industry, Staplcotn annually supplies over one quarter of the cotton consumed. Additionally, textile mills from all over the world have become reliant upon Staplcotn as their source for Memphis/Eastern cotton.
Traditionally, the Memphis/Eastern crop produces various qualities in terms of grade, leaf, staple micronaire and strength. This makes the cotton from our region attractive because it offers the world’s textile industry flexibility in their purchasing.
